Awesome Ahsem is a rapper and multimedia artist hailing from Dayton Ohio. He’s released two self-produced projects under the retired stage name GAWN and just released one more under his newly adopted stage name Awesome Ahsem. He also makes non-music related content under the alias Ash Kay. Marrying the intricate lyricism of the golden age with the diverse sonic landscape of the blog era and packaging it all in the internet DIY sensibility of today, Awesome Ahsem pulls from the past, yet pushes towards the future. His work is very concept-based and big-picture, driven just as much by the message behind it as it is the sound. His lyrics offer a healthy (or maybe not-so-healthy) mix of existential contemplation, social commentary, and self-deprecating humor. Awesome Ahsem is independent, releasing music under the unofficial self-created label Mommy and Daddy Records. He is currently based in Los Angeles.

MISANTHROPIC PHILANTHROPIST or, SOUNDTRACK TO A PITY PARTY today (March 29 2023) my baby was born, one week overdue, weighing in at 36 minutes 57 seconds. I pushed it out of my bussy and it hurt for sure but it was definitely worth it. It quite handily puts all of its older siblings to shame, in my humble opinion. I hope you enjoy it. "I was an individual: the inferior, the superior, the abandoned, the persecuted, the victim, the martyr, the savior, the messiah, the Madonna, the whore, Cassandra, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Don Juan, and God all rolled into one. Whatever complex I had, or have, it was complex. It made me feel as if the world was out to get me. So in turn, I was out to get it. Namely, I turned my back on it. I would fight through flight, day and night. Only to bring to light, much to my dismay and not so much to my delight, that I was just another individual: not so special after all."
